NEW YORK (AP) - The NYPD says an alligator and nine snakes were far away from their natural habitats when officers found them in a Brooklyn apartment.

Authorities say officers executing a search warrant found the creatures on Tuesday. At least some of the snakes are boa constrictors.

They say the reptiles’ owner, 44-year-old Johnnie Morgan, is facing reckless endangerment charges. Police say Morgan has faced charges for having similar pets in the past.

The reptiles were taken to the Bronx Zoo.

It’s unclear if he has an attorney who could comment on the charges.
