GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) - Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies are trying to figure out if a man they say blew up the coin machine at a Gaffney car wash is responsible for other explosions in Cherokee and Spartanburg counties over the past year.

Sheriff Steve Mueller said Tuesday at a news conference that Jeffrey Daily set off a bomb at the Oasis Car Wash on July 6. The blast was so massive it burned the bills, mangled the quarters in the machine and sent money and parts of the machine more than 200 feet away.

Daily was arrested last week. The sheriff says he had another explosive device in his car. He’s charged with burglary, causing an explosion that damaged a building and possession or manufacturing of a device that causes damage, injury or death.
