CHESTER HILL, Pa. (AP) - A Canadian company that provides natural gas drillers with hydraulic fracturing and other services has laid off 60 workers at its central Pennsylvania operation.

The Centre Daily Times (https://bit.ly/1TTlUQm ) reports the layoffs leave Calfrac Well Services with about 10 employees who will maintain its equipment, facility and to support the company’s sales.

The Calgary, Alberta-based company doesn’t plan to close the Chester Hill operation because officials expect the gas business to rebound.

Ed Oke, the company’s vice president of human resources, says, “We’re working to get more work in that area, and we’re confident that more work will come back.”

The company had already cut its employees’ wages earlier this year due to the slowdown.
