SEATTLE (AP) - A fire ripped through a north Seattle neighborhood early Thursday, damaging three homes and a nearby garage.

Seattle Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore says heat from the fire was so intense that it blew out several windows of a private school across the street.

No injuries were reported. Investigators don’t know yet what caused the fire in the Maple Leaf neighborhood.

Moore says a family of four woke up and got out of the house and alerted another family four in another house. All eight people got out safely, and a pet lizard was also rescued.

He says the fire began around 3 a.m. in a home under construction. From there it spread to two neighboring homes. Embers also jumped an alley and burned a garage located on another street.
