WASHINGTON (AP) - Authorities say a pregnant woman was stabbed while biking home from work in Southeast Washington.

Police say the 33-year-old victim, who is seven months pregnant, was stabbed Tuesday afternoon. The victim says while crossing the street on her bike at an intersection not far from her home, she encountered a man, who grabbed her arm and stabbed her in the shoulder.

The woman, who managed to pedal away, says she didn’t realize at first that she had been stabbed until looking over her shoulder to see that she was bleeding.

The victim says she stopped at a residence and had someone call 911 before being taken to a hospital, where she was treated for her wound.

Police say they are looking for the man suspected of stabbing the woman.
