MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Gov. Scott Walker’s jobs agency gave a Wisconsin businessman a $1 million loan nine months after a federal judge wrote that other deals involving the person had “all the earmarks of fraud.”

Now the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. is suing to get its money back.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel first reported on the lawsuits Thursday.

The loan to Tim Flaherty’s Oconto County business North American Finishing LLC is among several troubled transactions from WEDC that are drawing renewed scrutiny now that Walker is running for president.

Flaherty settled the federal lawsuit over allegedly hiding assets from creditors a day before he signed the loan agreement with WEDC on Dec. 27, 2012.

WEDC sued in state court to recover the loan money in April.
