GADSDEN, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a man driving a vehicle with blue lights on its roof is charged with impersonating an officer.

Etowah County Sheriff’s Capt. Josh Morgan says 43-year-old David Michael Combs of Fyffe was stopped Thursday afternoon when authorities saw that his vehicle had blue lights on its roof and a handicap plate.

Authorities say Combs was wearing a black T-shirt with “police” printed on it, had two guns, handcuffs and a hand-held radio inside his vehicle. Authorities say Combs told them he was responding to a crash and was a constable for the DeKalb County sheriff’s office.

Officials say DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris confirmed that Combs is not an employee.

It’s unclear if Combs has an attorney. Authorities say he was arrested on a similar charge in 1993.
