BUTLER, Pa. (AP) - A western Pennsylvania man has been ordered to stand trial after confessing to smashing his infant son’s head against a bedroom wall.

The Butler Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/1HXBTFH) 25-year-old Tyler Duddy is charged with endangering the welfare of children, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person stemming from the June 19 incident.

District Judge Kevin O’Donnell determined there is enough evidence to hold the Butler Township father for trial following a preliminary hearing Thursday.

Duddy’s 7-week-old son was placed in the critical care unit at Children’s Hospital on June 20.

The baby, Callen, was recovering last week and has been placed in foster care. The child’s mother is hospitalized for an unspecified reason. Authorities have said it’s likely the boy will end up with long-term health issues.
