FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Plans are working their way through City Hall to construct a four-story hotel in downtown Flagstaff.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports (https://bit.ly/1CZrSei) the 82,500-sqaure-foot Marriott Residence Inn would have 109 units and be constructed near Historic Route 66 and Humphreys Street.

Flagstaff Planning Development Manager Elaine Averitt says a site plan is being reviewed by her department.

She said the hotel also needs Historic Preservation Commission approval so that it can be built downtown.

Approval would put the Marriott facility among the only buildings over two stories tall in downtown Flagstaff.

The four-story, 50-room Monte Vista opened in 1927.
