DURANGO, Colo. (AP) - A man who was discovered in the Animas River in southwest Colorado on Thursday and later died has been identified.

Authorities say that the man was 26-year-old Rayford Begaye of Grants, New Mexico.

La Plata County Coroner Jann Smith says it’s not clear why the man went into the river near a grocery store.

The Durango Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1DF1n8Y ) that foul play is not suspected.

Some rafters found Begaye unresponsive in the river Thursday afternoon and stopped to provide CPR. Begaye was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday.

Begaye is the fourth person who has died this year after being found in the Animas.
