BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (AP) - Brookhaven police say a 23-year-old man is accused of killing another 23-year-old from Brookhaven.

The Enterprise-Journal ( ) reports that Pierre Thomas is accused of murder in the death of Glen “Peanut” Mack, who was shot late Thursday.

Chief Bobby Bell says he’s also charged with possessing both marijuana and cocaine with intent to distribute the drugs.

Mack was shot in the legs. He died after being airlifted to University Medical Center in Jackson.

Bell says police booked Thomas Friday afternoon.

They have not said whether they know why Mack was shot.

The killing is the third this month in Brookhaven and the seventh this year in Lincoln County.
