LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police say a suspect was shot and killed after shooting an officer in the face.

Authorities say patrol officers were called to an apartment complex around 6:10 p.m. Saturday to investigate a possible robbery and battery with a deadly weapon.

According to police, a man came out of an apartment and spoke with officers. He then went back inside to retrieve a handgun and shot an officer in the face.

Police say officers immediately returned fire, killing the suspect.

The wounded officer was treated and released from the hospital.

The suspect’s body has been turned over to the Clark County Coroner’s Office to determine identity and cause of death.

Police say this is the sixth officer-involved shooting this year.
