ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Police and firefighters in Albuquerque have responded to a house fire that reportedly involved a fatality.

The Fire Department initially said a man lit his house on fire and shot himself Monday morning on the 800 block of Carlisle Southeast.

However, department spokeswoman Melissa Romero later said one person was found dead but that she could not discuss circumstances except that there was no indication of foul play and that cause of the fire was under investigation.

Romero said the fire was in the home’s attached garage and that it was extensively damaged. She says there was smoke damage to the rest of the home.
