ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Alaska State troopers say an Anchorage Jail inmate who had been in custody for 20 years died at a local hospital.

KTUU-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1U1HB0J ) that 74-year-old William Wilson died Saturday at Alaska Regional Hospital.

Troopers say Wilson died of natural causes. The state medical examiner’s office has been contacted and released the body to a funeral home.

The Alaska Department of Corrections said in a statement that Wilson had been held since 1995 on a second-degree murder conviction.

DOC spokeswoman Sherrie Daigle says she did not have access to case files and that she could not say which murder case Wilson was convicted in.
