PHOENIX (AP) - An El Mirage man is facing six felony charges after a freeway chase with authorities and then a foot pursuit through a neighborhood.

Burnell Turner had his initial court appearance Monday. He’s being held on $12,000 bond and doesn’t have a lawyer yet.

The 57-year-old Turner was arrested Thursday night on suspicion of aggravated assault, narcotic drug and paraphernalia possession, driving under the influence, unlawful flight from law enforcement and resisting arrest.

Authorities say Turner was stopped on Interstate 10 near State Route 85 after his pickup truck was seen swerving on the road.

During the traffic stop, an officer reported noticing the smell of alcohol on Turner’s breath.

Turner sped off and that started a police chase.

Police say Turner dropped a baggie that later tested positive for cocaine.
