ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) - A 51-year-old Eugene man is missing and presumed drowned at Diamond Lake in the Umpqua National Forest.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says the wife of Rodney Shay told deputies her husband jumped from the back of their boat. She said she tossed him a life jacket, but he vanished under the water.

Deputies couldn’t find Shay’s body during the weekend despite searching with dogs, divers and boats equipped with sonar.

They returned for another look Monday with divers and sonar equipment.
