SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - The remains of a decapitated goat have been found in Sacramento, bringing the total number of mutilated animals discovered in the area to more than a dozen since December.

The Sacramento Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1S7fOP8 ) that the goat remains were found Saturday in a paper bag on a south Sacramento street.

Police aren’t positive that the incident is connected to the other mutilation cases, which include decapitated chickens and the body parts of lambs and cows. In some cases, small amounts of cash or lighted candles have accompanied the remains.

In June, surveillance footage showed a woman discarding a mutilated goat, catfish, rat and chickens on light-rail tracks.

The U.S. Humane Society and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals are offering $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
