RENO, Nev. (AP) - Human remains discovered near Spooner Summit last year have been identified as those of a Reno man.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (https://on.rgj.com/1InkEgc ) that the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received results from DNA testing on the remains Thursday that revealed they belonged to 32-year-old Ryan Wallace Osburn. Authorities believe he shot himself in the head.

Investigators recovered Osburn’s remains in King Canyon in June 2014. They had also found a handgun, projectile and shell.

Authorities in an earlier statement said the remains had undergone DNA analysis and were compared to family members.

Deputies say Osburn was from Ocala, Florida but had been living in Reno at the time of his death. He had listed his occupation as a professional gambler.
