July 27—David Dayton, LCHS Band Director, addressed a large crowd of parents and supporters of the band on Thursday afternoon.

As the band performance for the parents closed the 2015 Band Camp that had been held for the past weeks at LCHS, Dayton bragged about the band he is proud to direct. The LCHS band, waiting in formation in the parking lot at LCHS, listened with the parents as Dayton described the success the Band Camp had been and the excitement he shares as the 2015 Band season gets underway. After words of encouragement for the crowd to join in song as the band played “My Old Kentucky Home,” he stepped aside and the Band Camp closed with the Kentucky State Song.

After, the band and the crowd made their way to the courtyard for a picnic with all the fixings.

With the completion of Band Camp, the 2015 LSHS Marching Season has begun in the heat and humidity of summer. It will continue through cooler weather and into the rainy and possibly snowy football season. Then Pep Band will again entertain during basketball season, and we all hope at again at the Regional Tournament and beyond.

Competition marching in the official Kentucky Music Educator’s Marching Season starts the first Saturday after Labor Day. State competition is scheduled on Halloween this year.

“Will do all the home football games,” he said, “but only time we’ll travel with the football team is for the post-season,”

Recent changes at LCHS have many excited for the upcoming season. Band Director Dayton is part of that excitement at Logan County High School.
