July 27—A San Angelo man phoned police to report his girlfriend was trapped inside a local church’s air conditioning vent, leading to his arrest for trespassing and possession. Authorities believe he was intoxicated.

Seth Moore, 20, called the San Angelo Police Department shortly before 12:30 a.m. Monday seeking aid for his girlfriend who he claimed was inside an AC unit at Edmund Baptist Church, 1405 Edmund St.

Authorities searched the church, discovering Moore’s belongings and damage to a window frame, the AC unit and a vent, but no girlfriend, according to an SAPD news release.

Church officials told police they wished to pursue charges, as Moore did not have permission to be inside the building. After Moore’s arrest, police searched a bag he had in his possession and located approximately 18 grams of marijuana.

Moore was arrested and charged with criminal trespass, a class C misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and fines up to $500, criminal mischief damage/destruction to a place of worship, a state jail felony punishable by 180 days to 2 years in jail and fines not to exceed $10,000, and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor punishable by no more than 180 days in jail and maximum fine of $2,000.
