SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Shreveport police say officers shot and killed a 33-year-old man who shot at them.

Police spokesman Bill Goodin identifies the man as Khari Westly.

He says the incident started when a teenager called Sunday morning, saying a male relative had been holding her and another teenager at gunpoint, but had just left the house.

Police say Westley returned when his estranged wife showed up to check on the teens.

Goodin says Westly fired at least twice at his wife and once at police, then ran away. He says a short chase ended when Westly turned and shot at officers again, and four officers fired back.

Goodin says Westly died at University Health. He says nobody else was wounded.

The officers have been placed on paid administrative leave.
