PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Police say a Providence woman has been arrested for her role in a murder-for-hire scheme involving a Providence police officer’s mother.

Fifty-year-old Michelle Larracuente was arraigned Monday in Providence District Court on charges of soliciting someone to commit murder and soliciting someone to commit first-degree arson. She was released on $100,000 surety bail.

Police say a man reported on Wednesday that Larracuente has asked him to seriously injure the police officer’s mother, burn down her house and vandalize another home in exchange for money.

Police say the man agreed to allow police to record his conversations with Larracuente.

Police say Larracuente was recorded asking that the police officer’s mother get beaten so badly that she dies.

It’s unclear whether Larracuente is being represented by an attorney.
