ELMORE, Ala. (AP) - Alabama prison officials say they’ve captured an inmate who escaped from the Draper Correctional Facility in Elmore.

The Alabama Department of Corrections said 37-year-old Roberto Talabera was assigned to a farming detail on the facility’s property on Alabama 143 when he escaped around Monday morning. Authorities said correctional officers used a tracking dog in the search for him.

Officials say Talabera was found about four miles from the prison and he tried hiding in a field of kudzu. Authorities say he was taken into custody without incident.

Authorities say Talabera is serving a 20-year sentence for his 2008 robbery conviction in Madison County. Talabera and an accomplice were convicted of robbing four convenience stores at gunpoint in May 2007.
