RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A Wake County teenager charged for his role in an underage drinking incident that led to a fatal wreck last summer has pleaded guilty to illegally purchasing alcohol.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reports (https://bit.ly/1VJAs75) 19-year-old Thomas Blake Matthews pleaded guilty Monday to underage purchase of alcohol. The plea came as his parents, Charles and Kimberley Taylor, await a trial next month on charges that they aided and abetted underage drinking at a June 2014 wedding ceremony.

Authorities say 18-year-old Jonathon Gregory Taylor was going 89 miles per hour in his 2008 BMW when the car left the road and struck a tree. Court documents say Taylor’s blood-alcohol level was 0.20, more than twice the legal limit to be considered impaired.
