July 27—A Tennessee man was arrest on numerous charges Saturday after breaking into the home of a Logan County couple and then fighting with police officers when he was caught leaving the scene.

On Saturday, July 25, Delmar and Jonell Spivey of Corinth Oakville Road in Russellville called for the Logan County Sheriff’s Department to report a home invasion. Deputies Ed Higgins, Parker Rowland and Robert Toombs responded to the call.

According to a police report, the alleged perpetrator, 24-year-old Joshua Timothy Smith of Castalian Springs, Tenn., was found attempting to leave the scene by deputies as they arrived at the Spivey home. Smith then fought with the deputies until her was finally subdued and arrested.

After his arrest, it was discovered that Smith was also wanted in Tennessee for an outstanding warrant over a stolen car, which was then recovered by the Logan County deputies after the home invasion.

Smith was taken and lodged into the Logan County Detention Center on charges of burglary first degree, two counts of third degree assaulting a police officer, fourth degree assault, receiving stolen property-automobile and attempted theft of a motor vehicle.
