FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - A black bear has been spotted wandering around the Fairbanks neighborhood of Goldstream Valley.

Homeowner Morris Palter tells the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner (https://bit.ly/1U3yY60 ) that he was gardening Saturday night when a furry friend decided to join him. Palter says he retreated to his house, but not before taking photos and a video.

Another black bear was seen Sunday afternoon.

Fish and Game spokeswoman Cathie Harms says bear sightings in the Fairbanks area are much less common than they are in Anchorage or Juneau.

This year has been full of celebrity bear sightings. Gov. Bill Walker in May encouraged the relocation of a sow and four cubs from Anchorage’s Government Hill neighborhood. Four were eventually killed after interactions with people in Hope.
