July 28—LEXINGTON — A 48-year-old man was charged Monday in the homicide of a convenience store employee.

Donald Eugene Greene, of Lexington, is charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon and larceny of a motor vehicle, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office said.

Greene is accused of going to the Exxon at 422 W. Center St. Ext. about 7:15 a.m. and fatally shooting store clerk Sajjad Nawaz, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said Nawaz robbed, the convenience store and stole Nawaz’s white Lexus SUV. The vehicle was found at Center United Methodist Church in Welcome later that day, the agency said.
