July 28—BINGHAM TOWNSHIP — A 41-year-old Minden City man died when he was ejected from his vehicle in an accident early Sunday morning.

According to the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the scene around 2:51 a.m. after a truck driver discovered Edward R. Monzo unresponsive and laying in the westbound lane of Atwater Road near Nugent Road.

A preliminary investigation revealed Monzo was traveling east bound on Atwater Road when his 2005 GMC van left the roadway and entered the north ditch. The van then struck two driveway culverts and ended up on its side.

Monzo, who was the lone occupant, was ejected at some point from the impacts. He was pronounced dead at the scene by an official from the Huron County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Sheriff’s office investigators have processed the scene, and the investigation continues. An autopsy is being scheduled.
