July 28—A young black bear toured a North Point patio on July 19.

Homeowners Betty and Jim Stephenson, who named the visitor Billie the Bear, said the animal explored their patio and peeked into their living room about 4:30 p.m.

“He spend 10 to 15 minutes on the patio,” Betty Stephenson said. She noted the bear “was of good size. He is about as long as our dining room table, which seats six.”

She added that the bear knocked over a potted plant and scared itself.

Stephenson said the condominium association contacted the Pennsylvania Game Commission and Neshannock Township police.

“We were told bears are on the move at this time of the year,” she said. “They said no nothing and the bear will move along on its own. It did.”

She said the bear has not been back.
