July 28—HOWELL — Residents of Box Elder County may have felt lightly shaken by a minor earthquake that occurred Monday afternoon.

The University of Utah Earthquake Center confirmed a 0.9 magnitude earthquake that was detected at about 3:26 p.m. The closest city to the location is Howell.

A resident from Willard reported feeling the shaking at their home.

The Box Elder Sheriff’s Office say they did not receive any reports or emergency calls related to the tremor.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 0.9 is a weak event that can only be felt by the sensitive and has little chance of doing damage.
