July 28—Broward Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating human bones that were found Tuesday in woods at Port Everglades, the agency said.

“Bones were found in a wooded area of the port, where homeless people have been known to congregate,” said Sheriff’s spokeswoman Gina Carter. “The bones have been there a long time.”

She said the skeletal remains and clothing were found by a maintenance worker in an area where there are no roads, northwest of the 800 block of Eller Drive.

It was too soon to know whether the bones are from a man or woman, Carter said.
