July 28—JEROME — A fire believed to be human-caused burned a half-acre near the Devils Corral section of the Snake River Canyon on Monday.

The Bureau of Land Management received the call about the fire at 645 Canyon Drive around 1:45 p.m. and SIRCOMM received it shortly after 2:30 p.m. Bureau of Land Management and Jerome Rural Fire both responded to the fire.

Kelsey Dehoney, BLM fire information officer, said the fire was contained at 4:30 p.m. and controlled at 5 p.m.

“They have a good handle on things and don’t expect any issues,” she said.

Dehoney said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but said it is believed to be human caused.
