July 28—CUMBERLAND — A Cumberland woman is awaiting trial after being charged with criminal offenses relating to alleged neglect of her toddler son.

Cumberland Police were called to the South Penn Elementary School on July 14 when a summer school supervisor said the woman had dropped her child off at the school. The child reportedly had dried dog feces in his hair, on his face and in his clothing.

Police were also told the mother frequently failed to pick up the child at closing time of the school.

Child Protective Service were contacted and advised of the matter.

Investigation led to the arrest Monday of Lacy Lynn Barbour, 28, of Cumberland, who was charged in an arrest warrant with two counts of neglect of a minor and one count of reckless endangerment.

She remained jailed Tuesday at the Allegany County Detention Center in lieu of $5,000 bond.
