July 28—City Council on Tuesday is expected to authorize the Downtown Improvement District to operate for a third 10-year term. Founded in 1995, the DID promotes activities, beautification and economic development in the downtown area and is funded primarily by government and assessments on downtown property owners. More than 70 percent of affected property owners have said they support the DID’s reauthorization.
