July 28—ABILENE, Texas — Registration will begin for Head Start and prekindergarten programs in the Abilene Independent School District from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at the Abilene Civic Center, 1100 N. Sixth St.

Families must meet eligibility requirements to enroll in the Head Start program, including federal income guidelines, or the child must be diagnosed with a disability, according to the school district.

Normally reserved for four-year-old students, a limited number of spots for three-year-old children are available. These limited spots are available for registration beginning Thursday.

Applicants must provide birth certificate, immunization records, a Social Security card for the child, proof of residency, proof of most recent income for all adults in the household, picture identification and the child’s Department of Defense identification card if applicable.
