July 28—COOLBAUGH TWP. — A 75-year-old man drowned in Monroe County after his kayak flipped Monday morning, the coroner said.

Stanley Kurkowski of Bound Brook, New Jersey, was boating on Pocono Summit Lake near his summer home when his kayak capsized about 7:45 a.m, according to Monroe County Coroner Robert Allen.

His wife saw him go in and called authorities.

Northeast Search and Rescue recovered the man’s body; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner will conduct an autopsy today.
