July 28—WILMINGTON — A man with a knife held up the Scotchman on 17th Street early Tuesday, according to police.

According to the clerk, the man walked into the convenience store at 2:18 a.m., brandished a knife and demanded money, said Cathryn Lindsay, Wilmington Police Department spokeswoman.

“He chased the clerk around the store and out the front door,” Lindsay said. The assailant then fled in a dark SUV. It was not clear if he got any cash.

The bandit is described as white, between the ages of 30 and 25, 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a long-sleeved gray shirt, a dark blue ballcap and dark jeans. He had a “five o’clock shadow” for facial hair.

Anyone with information should call the WPD at 910-343-3609. You can also anonymously submit a tip through Text-A-Tip. Send “Tip708” and the information to 274637 (CRIMES).
