July 28—A Terre Haute man faces multiple charges after police investigated a reported stabbing in the 400 block of North 14th Street on Saturday.

Michael Cardwell, 31, was arrested by Terre Haute Police after a vehicle chase that ended in a crash at 14th and Liberty streets. Cardwell fled on foot, police said, but was tracked by a THPD K-9 unit and taken into custody.

Two alleged victims told police Cardwell had stabbed them. Both stabbing victims were transported by ambulance for treatment.

A vehicle matching Cardwell’s was northbound on 13th Street, and when police tried to stop the vehicle, the driver would not pull over until a crash.

Cardwell was taken to a hospital for treatment, and was then taken to the Vigo County Jail where he was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery, resisting law enforcement, reckless driving and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

Cardwell has a court hearing on Wednesday in Vigo Superior Court 6. He is being held in jail on $75,000 bond with no 10 percent allowed.
