July 28—A 23-year-old man was injured Monday night after being shot while trying to break into a car on Milwaukee’s north side, Milwaukee police said.

The man suffered an injury that is not believed to be life-threatening in the shooting, which happened at about 10:20 p.m. on N. 15th Street near W. Atkinson Avenue, police said.

The man and an accomplice were breaking into a car when they were confronted by the owner, who ultimately shot him.

Both break-in suspects are in custody and the shooting is under investigation, police said.
