July 28—An employee at Aberdeen’s Merit Hotel, formerly known as Clarion Hotel, was robbed Sunday evening, city police reported.

A man entered the hotel, off of Route 22 on Hospitality Way, at 10:28 p.m., accosted an employee, forced her into an office area and robbed the hotel of an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing on foot, Aberdeen Police Sgt. Will Reiber said.

Although incident was called in as an armed robbery, no weapons were reported, according to police. No one was injured.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 6 feet tall with a thin build, wearing a T-shirt with a breast-pocket logo, blue jeans and gloves, Reiber said.

Aberdeen police officers canvassed the area, with Harford County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Police providing additional K-9 support, but the suspect was not found, Reiber said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the robbery or has any information is urged to call Aberdeen police at 410-272-2121 and ask to speak with Detective Milton.
