July 28—Despite the summer temperatures Monday at the Boone County 4-H Meat Goat Show, a “Frozen”-themed duo of goats were named the supreme and reserve supreme does.

Elsa and Anna, named after characters in the Disney movie “Frozen,” were named the supreme and reserve supreme does, respectively, by show judge Amanda Thompson of Frankfort. The does were shown by Kathleen Miller, but she said she owes a lot to her brother Kedrick, who owns the goats. Miller, a member of the Jefferson Harvesters 4-H Club, is a 10-year 4-H member and meat goat project member.

“It’s satisfying to know that I’m ending my career on a positive note,” she said Monday after her goats were named supreme and reserve supreme champions, in addition to overall grand and reserve grand champion does for Boone County born and raised. “I definitely thought there was other competition in the barn.”

Thompson said the quality of Monday’s show was “really nice.” The 4-Hers did a good job, and the high quality of the show made judging difficult at times.

“I thank Boone County for having me out here today,” she said. “It’s been a good time for me. I gave every kid a fair shake and picked the (goats) I liked.”
