July 28—VALDOSTA — A Valdosta mother was charged with reckless conduct Friday after a 7-month-old child was reportedly found on the back of a pick-up truck.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., the Valdosta Police Department responded to the 3900 block of Cutter Point in reference to a call from a man who said the mother of his child left his infant daughter in a child carrier on top of a tool box in the back of his truck, according to incident reports.

The man was reportedly mowing grass at a job site when he noticed his wife drive up. She reportedly wanted the man to care for the child while she attended to another matter, but he was unable to at the time.

The man continued to cut grass until he noticed she had left the area and the child had been placed in the back of his truck, said Valdosta Police Department Capt. Bobbi McGraw.

Officers contacted the mother, but she reportedly refused to return to the scene.

The Department of Family and Children Services was contacted, and a arrest warrant for the mother was signed, reports stated.

Rabirah Thomas, 29, of Valdosta was arrested Saturday at her residence and charged with reckless conduct, according to reports.
