July 28—A large section of a Roswell street collapsed early Tuesday after a car hit a fire hydrant.

The fire hydrant was hit late Monday night along Roxburgh Drive, causing a gushing underground leak that led to the road’s collapse, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Crews were still working just before daybreak Tuesday to repair the broken water line near the Country Club of Roswell.

The water main break was not impacting drinking water in the area, according to Channel 2.
