July 28—HARTFORD — Three firefighters were injured battling an overnight fire at the corner of Broad and Park Streets.

The fire, which started at 619 Park St., was reported at 10:45 p.m. Monday, said deputy chief Mike Juda. It was declared under control at about 4:30 a.m. or 5 a.m. Fire marshals were on the scene early Tuesday investigating.

A few firefighters suffered from exhaustion and one cut his hand, Juda said. He said they’re expected to be okay.

There are no reports of injuries among the occupants, who were displaced from the heavily damaged building. The first floor of the building houses shops and the above three floors are all apartments. The fire is believed to have started on the first floor.

Thin wisps of smoke still rose from the building around 6:30 a.m.
