July 28—LA VETA — Firefighters worked quick to douse a blaze Monday after a vacant house exploded in this small mountain town.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is investigating the 8:30 a.m. explosion at 236 W. Grand Ave.

There were no injuries to citizens nor emergency crews.

“The fire was extinguished at about 11 a.m.

There were no other structures threatened. We got it knocked down quick enough,” said. La Veta Fire Protection District Chief David BeTray [email protected]
