July 28—NORTH AUGUSTA — A woman was found dead Tuesday morning in the Savannah River.

She has been identified as Suzanne E. Dyke, 61, of North Augusta, according to a statement by Aiken Coroner Tim Carlton.

The body was discovered near a boat dock about 8 a.m. near the Hammond’s Ferry subdivision and an autopsy is scheduled Wednesday, the coroner said. At this time there is no suspicion of foul play or suspicious circumstances. Lt. Tim Thornton, of the North Augusta Department of Public Safety, said someone walking on the Greeneway near Boeckh Park called police after seeing the body floating facedown in the water.

The Department of Natural Resources and Aiken County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and pulled the woman from the water.
