LOS ANGELES (AP) - A Los Angeles businessman has pleaded not guilty to gunning down a woman on a Hollywood sidewalk.

City News Service says Ezeoma Obioha entered the plea Tuesday to murder with special circumstances. Prosecutors will decide whether to seek the death penalty.

Thirty-year-old Carrie Melvin was killed by a shotgun blast to the head as she walked with her boyfriend near Sunset Boulevard on July 5.

Police say the woman apparently was killed over a business dispute.

Investigators say Melvin had threatened to take Obioha to court after he hired her to market his new clothing business but wrote her a check that bounced.
