July 28—CANTON — Residents who need to cool off during the warm and humid weather that is forecast for the rest of this week can go to the Canton Public Library and the community center, the town has announced.

The library and the community center are at 40 Dyer Ave. They were opened as cooling centers on Monday and will remain open for that through Saturday, according to the announcement from the town.

According to a FOX CT forecast, conditions for the rest of the day on Tuesday are expected to be hot and humid with temperatures approaching 90. Those conditions will continue on Wednesday and Thursday with temperatures expected to reach or exceed 90 degrees, according to FOX CT. The weather is forecast improve somewhat on Friday and Saturday but temperatures are expected to reach the upper 80s on both days.

The rooms in the community center will be open through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours for the library are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Water faucets are available but residents are asked to bring their own food and people are reminded to bring any medication they may need along with emergency contact information. Service dogs are welcome at both centers.
