July 28—A 57-year-old man was arrested Friday for sexually molesting a 15-year-old girl, according to court records.

Raymond Pepin, a Curry County resident, was charged with assault with intent to commit a violent felony and criminal sexual penetration, the arrest affidavit states. Curry County Sheriff Wesley Waller said Pepin is being held at the Curry County Jail on both felony charges on a $50,000 cash-only bond.

Pepin’s alleged victim gave deputies a written statement of the incident. She said she was at Pepin’s house and pretending to be a cowgirl with her new cowboy hat. She told deputies she fell asleep in a recliner with the hat covering her eyes, and later woke up to someone “touching her,” and trying to pull her off the recliner.

She was scared and pretended to be sleeping throughout the whole ordeal, according to her statement.

“She said she was very scared and kept her eyes closed praying God would make it stop,” the affidavit reads.

She said the suspect’s phone began to ring during the attack. The first two times, she said, he ignored the calls. The third time the phone rang, Pepin stopped and answered it.

Shortly after, he left the house, giving her time to get away, she said.

“The statement indicated that (the victim) heard his truck start, so she jumped up and put her (clothes) back on and began texting her mom,” the affidavit states.

As she was getting ready to leave, she heard Pepin’s truck pull back into the driveway. She then locked the front door and waited for him to come in the house. Once Pepin reached the front door, she fled out the back and headed to the main road, according to her statement.

Once the victim met with her mother and friends, they called authorities to report what had happened.

Attempts to locate Pepin’s attorney for comment were not successful on Monday.
