July 28—VALDOSTA — The Goodwill Career Center is hosting Career and Community Connections Day tomorrow from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Along with connecting job seekers with employers such as the U.S. Army, Florida Department of Corrections, Convergys, Express Employment Professionals, New Hire Solutions and SMX, participants will also be able to meet with local community service providers.

“The idea is to have a one stop shop for job seekers,” said Bridgette Russell, communications specialist with Goodwill Southern Rivers. “As they are in transition, maybe unemployed or employed and looking for another job, they can have other concerns. They might have issues with healthcare, they might also have issues with housing.

“We’re offering a holistic approach for the experience a job seeker might be going through.”

Participating community service providers

include House of

Heroes (South Georgia Chapter), Living Bridges, (which offers transformation programs and get

out of poverty classes), Georgia Department

of Corrections, South Georgia Regional Library, South Health District (Georgia Department

of Health), Telamon Corporation (which offers employment and training assistance for migrant workers) and WellCare of

The Goodwill Career Center is located at 1000 N. St. Augustine Road.
